Happy Resurrection Sunday! This is the most wonderful of days, and I hope your home is filled with much singing today.
In the hymnal we are using, there is a section on hymns of the resurrection. I thought today - and this whole week - would be a good week to sing them.
One of the things that makes me most sad about church music is that we tend to only sing about the resurrection on Easter Sunday, when really, we should be singing of it every Sunday. Practice these songs with your family and sing them often throughout the year.

- This is a great one to have your children respond in singing the "Alleluia"
- Often, hymns only refer to the resurrection in one stanza - so how wonderful that we have a hymn that is focused entirely on the resurrection!
- You can have your children learn the chorus for this one

- Read Job 19:25 to your family and talk about his difficult circumstances and how God was faithful to Him. This same God will also be faithful to you!
- Make a copy of the hymn and circle all of the results of Christ's resurrection
Come People of the Risen King (GettyTownend/Getty)
- This is my children's personal favorite. They love the chorus which is a great place to start learning this text. If you are unfamiliar with this one, you should learn it!
- One thing I love about this text is that it talks about the universal church. What a wonderful thing to remember that Christians - young, old, men, and women from every land will sing of the Risen King!
EXTRAS
There are so many you could sing (and I hope you sing and learn as many as you can!). Here are two more that we love at our house -(Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed and See What a Morning/Resurrection Hymn - even my 1 year old can sing the chorus!) and I would recommend most of Keith and Kristyn Getty's music. Their music is very resurrection focused - they try to include the entirety of the Gospel in their songs. They also have a children's book now! Check out their website. Kristyn is a friend of mine, and I am also going to include something she has been writing about teaching families and children to sing in the coming weeks. She is so gracious in allowing me to share it!
