Day 3: Behold the Lamb of God

As the prologue from yesterday draws to a close, we have already clearly read from the pen of the author (John) who Jesus is and that He came to dwell with us. Now, the curtain is lifted and Act One begins with two scenes: (vv. 19-28) John the Baptist as the forerunner of Jesus and (vv. 29-34) the baptism of Jesus. And just as we read from John's pen about who Jesus is, we will now hear the voice of John the baptist boldly declaring who Jesus is.

Most children's Bible story book contain a story about John the Baptist if you would like to read to your children from those as well. Another good idea for older children perhaps, is to have them trace the Lamb of God throughout the Bible. Look it up on Biblegateway.  You can see from Genesis to Revelation that this was God's plan all along.
  • Reading: John 1:19-34
  • Memory passage: John 1:1-14
  • Memory verse: John 1:29
  • Song for the week: In Christ Alone
  • Activity: Today, we are going to make a lamb and hang it on our wall with our verse for today as a visible reminder of who Jesus is.
  • Meditation: Where do you even begin? There are so many passages that would be fitting for today. I have chosen Revelation 7:17.
