Day 11 - Sign 3

Through the life and work of Jesus, we see glimpses of redemption. Today is no exception. The healing of the lame man is the second in this grouping of signs and the third sign we see overall in the Gospel of John. We also understand this as a conflict story in that Jesus isn't acting in a way that the religious leaders of the day would like (i.e. He healed on the Sabbath), and He made Himself equal with God.

This is the first time in the Gospel of John that we see unbelief in those who have witnessed Jesus. Jesus has clearly stated that God is His Father. The response of the leaders was to persecute and kill Him instead of believing in His name.

I will focus on two kinds of people today with the children: those who believe and those who do not. Both kinds of people were in our story today. Both saw who Jesus was. Seeing Jesus demands a response - and both responded, but differently. We will pray and ask God to help us to see Who He is and to help us respond with belief!
