We see the discourse broken up by Jesus speaking and then another group of people speaking, grumbling, or asking questions. The first famous "I Am" statement is today. These statements fit perfectly within John's purpose for writing the Gospel, because Jesus is declaring who He is.

Day 15 - The Bread of Life!
I am again splitting up the discourse into two readings. This section is worth memorizing. It is full of beautiful Truth about Jesus, God the Father, and eternal life. John chooses to show the life and ministry of Jesus through signs and discourses (conversations). The first part is directly related to the previous two signs (feeding of the 5 thousand and Jesus walking on the water). The people are still wanting to make Jesus King, but for the wrong reasons. Jesus wants them to see that He is the Bread of Life. This reminds me of the conversation Jesus had with the woman at the well in chapter 4.
We see the discourse broken up by Jesus speaking and then another group of people speaking, grumbling, or asking questions. The first famous "I Am" statement is today. These statements fit perfectly within John's purpose for writing the Gospel, because Jesus is declaring who He is.
Reading: John 6:22-59
Memory passage: John 1:1-14
Memory passage: Matthew 28:1-10 - I am going to begin reviewing the Resurrection passage with my children. We learned the story from Matthew, but you could also work any of the other Gospels.
Memory Verse: John 6:29, 33, 35
Songs: Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah
Activity: We are making a tree today out of felt and taping it up on our wall. On the branches, we will put all the "I Am" statements from John's Gospel.
Meditation: Psalm 34:1-22
